Under the leadership of founding attorney Jonathan Merel, our team of attorneys has proudly served residents and families of the Chicagoland area in numerous family law disputes in an effort to help them find a satisfactory resolution to their cases.

What Is the “Best Law Firms” List?
The “Best Law Firms” list is a catalog of legal practices that are recognized for excellence in providing clients and professional references with quality legal services and representation. Best Lawyers® and U.S. News have joined forces to compile and organize the list based on feedback from a law firm’s clients and professional references.
Best Lawyers® is famous for organizing and publishing an annual list of accomplished attorneys in their Best Lawyers in America© book. U.S. News & Report—known simply as U.S. News—is a news magazine that covers national and international events. Together, their “Best Law Firms” list helps hard-working legal practices build public exposure for their dedication to providing clients with the utmost professionalism and care with regard to legal representation.
How Do Law Firms Get on the “Best Law Firms” List?
U.S. News and Best Lawyers® use a review methodology based on feedback and reviews from a law firm’s clients and professional associates regarding the firm’s “expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer another client to the firm.”
To qualify for consideration, law firms are required to have at least one lawyer recognized in the current edition of Best Lawyers® for a practice area or metro region the publication has ranked. Best Lawyers® sends out submission packets to law firms at the beginning of the year, which are then sent to clients and professional references.
Based on the data compiled from the submission packets, Best Lawyers calculates a “Best Law Firms” score for each candidate practice. The offices that are listed are categorized into three tiers on a local scale and three tiers on a national level. Additionally, one law firm is honored as “Law Firm of the Year” in a nationally-eligible practice area.
After nearly a year of compiling, investigating, and reviewing information, U.S. News & Best Lawyers® publish the final list online on November 1st of each year.
