We're thrilled to announce that five of our attorneys at the Law Offices of Jonathan Merel, P.C., were selected to the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars list by the Super Lawyers organization.
What Is Super Lawyers?
According to their About page,
"Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The patented selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations."
Being selected by the organization to their Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists is a prestigious honor awarded to a select few lawyers. Super Lawyers uses a rigorous selection process to ensure only the best and brightest attorneys receive distinction from the organization:
- Nominations. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves or campaign to be selected. Instead, a combination of peer recommendations, managing partner surveys, third-party feedback, and independent research done by the Super Lawyers team is used to nominate candidates.
- Independent research. After attorneys are nominated, Super Lawyers conducts independent research into each candidate. Factors considered include an attorney's pro bono and community service, standing with the bar, and special certificates or licenses.
- Peer evaluation. The candidates are evaluated by a Blue Ribbon Panel comprised of the highest-scoring lawyers, as identified in the nomination and independent research phases.
- Final Selection. Finally, Super Lawyers selects which lawyers to name to its Rising Stars and Super Lawyers lists. Rising Stars are lawyers who are 40-years-old or younger or who have been practicing for less than ten years. Super Lawyer nominations are reserved for more experienced attorneys.
Each year, only 2.5% of nominated employees are selected as Rising Stars, and only 5% are selected as Super Lawyers.
